Doug Hooley started his career with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office in 1988 as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Corrections Division. He worked in various assignments at the rank of Deputy Sheriff until 2002, when he began promoting up through the ranks. He promoted to the rank of Captain in April of 2008. He now serves as the Corrections Division Commander in charge of the 507 bed jail, the alternative incarceration programs (Work Release Center, Electronic Surveillance, Sheriffs Work Crew, Community Service, Defendant and Offender Management Center) , and the Parole and Probation section.
Doug serves on numerous criminal justice teams and boards including the Drug Court Advisory Board, the Children of Incarcerated Parents Committee, the Adult Offender Public Safety Coordinating Council Committee, and the local Supervisory Authority Team. He served on the team that developed Lane County’s evidence based approach to adult corrections and participated in the development of the risk assessment tool Lane County uses to determine overcrowding releases. Doug was responsible for forming the Lane County Jail’s Special Operations Response Team in 2006.
Doug earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Oregon University in Liberal Studies and minored in Anthropology and Sociology. He holds an Executive Level certificate from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, and is a graduate from the Oregon State Sheriffs Association Command College.
