IASI, Romania – Two inmates escaped while being transferred by a police officer from a courthouse back to their correctional facility.
The names of the inmates and the officer involved haven’t been released, but surveillance footage shows the two men being escorted by the officer to a waiting van, according to the Toronto Sun.
Neither inmate appears to be shackled or handcuffed, which allows one of the men to go running at one of the walls enclosing an area where the van is parked. He gets a leg up with a nearby structure and climbs right over the wall, disappearing.
The officer escorting the inmates appears to forget about the second inmate as he opens the gate and gives chase after the first.
The second inmate, seeing a clear path, takes off through the open gate.
Other officers assist in the chase, but only one of the inmates has been apprehended.
