To formulate and ensure compliance with established work procedures and to supervise workflow and operations of a laundry facility inside a NH State Prison, working in close and immediate contact with prisoners on a daily basis while maintaining security.
Ensures that the laundry operations meet local, state and federal standards related to maintaining sanitary conditions and that those laundry operations prevent cross contamination and eliminate the spread of disease and illness. Ensure that laundry operations will be able to handle the needs of a rapidly expanding and changing system and that cost effectiveness is maintained.
Prepares and maintains a budget so that the financial needs of the laundry facility are maintained.
Forecasts short and long-term purchases of anticipated equipment repairs and parts and orders chemicals, equipment, and supplies to ensure proper standards are met and appropriate levels of supplies and proper equipment are available to operate an efficient laundry facility.
Trains inmate workers to follow proper schedules and steps to prevent unsanitary or incorrect work and ensures all safety requirements are followed according to Departmental policy and procedures.
Supervises a Laundry Manager I subordinate that assists in areas of operational management of the laundry facility.
Supervises inmates assigned to the laundry facility to reduce the risk of contraband, escapes and violent behavior.
Conducts daily searches of laundry, equipment, and inmate workers in a constant effort to maintain clean, safe, and efficiently run laundry facility; escorts inmates so that a safe environment exists in the laundry facility and so that discipline is maintained.
Performs routine maintenance and equipment repairs by conducting daily, weekly, monthly, and annual routine maintenance; schedules outside vendor visits for the purpose of allowing vendors to understand the laundry’s commodity needs.
Produces logs and schedules of laundry, maintenance records, parts and equipment purchase tool inventories, daily tool log, supplies and chemicals. Produces, maintains and alters Prison Laundry Standard Operating Procedures when needed.
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Four years of experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment in a commercial or institutional laundry or similar work that involved large scale production or service operations, at least two years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
