Job Classification: Recruit Jail Deputy

Attention: “Out of Area” applicants who relocate to our county, may be eligible for relocation reimbursement, up to $7,000, upon hire.

Washington County Sheriff's Office is currently hiring for Recruit Jail Deputy and encourages you to submit scores. It is important that you submit your scores to WCSO by the deadline to be considered for employment.

++Next Deadline:++ WCSO will pull scores from NTN on 05/05/2021, so if you are planning to apply, the following MUST be in the NTN system (visible to WCSO) by 11:59 p.m. on 05/04/2021.

  1. Your NTN REACT written/video test scores

++Physical Ability Test (PAT)++ Washington County Sheriff’s Office accepts all official PAT scores and does not limit its applicants to the Oregon ORPAT. Valid PAT testing from the following sources will be accepted:

· NTN ORPAT, NTN PAT, Washington County hosted PAT testing, PAT or ORPAT scores from other agencies and/or military fitness tests.

· All PAT or physical testing scores must have been completed within six months prior to application and submitted to WCSO prior to the closing deadline for application submission.

· Passing PAT or ORPAT scores from other agencies and/or military fitness test scores may be submitted directly to Washington County Sheriff’s Office in lieu of a PAT score once an applicant has been contacted and notified they are moving forward in the hiring process.

· Please be advised that the different physical testing options are accepted by Washington County Sheriff's Office only.

· Please read the job descriptions for all jobs you are interested in to make sure that you meet all criteria.

· If you are not prompted to select a PAT date and you wish to take the PAT testing, please contact NTN support to schedule the PAT at the closest location offering the exam.

· Once all passing scores are pulled from NTN on __05/05/2021__, Washington County Human Resources will notify successful candidates directly via email about the next steps in the process which will require completing an application through the NEOGOV system.

We are projecting to hire 30-40 deputies each year over the next 3 years to work in our Jail division. Jail Recruit Deputies learn basic concepts of corrections, learn and carry out procedures, rules, and regulations of the jail, including booking, prisoner care, security, and transportation. Washington County will accept test results throughout the year and will create a pool of candidates with NTN test results before each hiring process, at least four times per year.

Salary Information:

Jail Deputy: $31.69 - $42.93

· Bilingual Pay – $55 per pay period which is paid out every two weeks.

· Incentive Pay – 2% to 8% for a combination of certification levels, training, college education and years of service.

· Overtime and/or compensatory time allowances for overtime, callback, and court appearance.

· Uniform including initial tailoring, duty gear, and a firearm.

· Footwear allowance – $125 per year.

Job Requirements

Age : Must be at least 21 years of age by hire date

US Citizen : Jail Recruit Deputies must obtain U.S. citizenship within 12 months of hire.

High School Grad/GED : Must be a high school graduate or possess a General Educational Development (GED) certificate of high school equivalency.

Valid OREGON State Driver's License : Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record.

Ability to Read/Speak English : Qualified applicants who are Bilingual/Bicultural are encouraged to apply. _*Additional Bilingual Pay – $55 per pay period. _

Vision : Not less than 20/200 in one eye or both eyes, corrected to 20/20 in both eyes combined.

Academy Certification : Must be eligible for certification in first aid and CPR.

Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors :

· Domestic Violence Conviction

· Felony Conviction

· Misdemeanor Conviction (reviewed on a case-by-case basis)

· Unacceptable Driving Record (previous five years)
