Job Description
Corrections Recruits are employees assigned to attend and successfully complete the POST-certified Corrections Recruit Training Academy, including meeting and maintaining qualifications on firearms and other weapons, prior to being commissioned as Corrections Officers for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Starting annual salary in the Academy: $58,941.00
Upon completion of Academy (Corrections Officer I): $61,859.20
Six months after graduation (4% merit increase): $64,313.60
12 months after graduation (4% merit increase): $66,892.80
18 months after graduation (Corrections Officer II): $68,203.20
Top of the Corrections Officer II salary (4% annual merit increases): $97,052.80

There are three testing dates available in 2022. Candidates may select any session from the below scheduled testing dates, but they only need to attend one session if they pass.

• Must be 21 years of age by the date of the Written Exam.
• Must be a Citizen of the United States by the date of the Written Exam.
• Must have no convictions of any crime for which registration in the State of Nevada is required pursuant to NRS 207.090 or 207.152.
• Must have no convictions or any misdemeanors involving use/attempt of physical force if committed by those listed in the Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 1997.
Job Requirements
- Age: 21
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: 18 Months Continous Service as a POST III Peace Officer

++Training and Education++
• Possession of a High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or General Education Diploma (GED).
• Possession of a POST Category III (or above) Certification from a qualified agency in the United States of America.
• Must be currently employed as a Corrections Officer at a law enforcement agency in the United States of America and have a minimum of 18 months of continuous service as a POST Category III Peace Officer immediately preceding the first test instrument.
