THE POSITION

The Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation is seeking to hire a Senior Social Worker at the County Home School (CHS). This position will work with residents in the Adolescent Male Treatment Program. The CHS is a state-licensed residential treatment center for juveniles ages 13 to 18, committed by the court for felony level offenses. The CHS provides a safe, secure, and healthy environment on a 167 acre site in Minnetonka, just 10 miles west of Minneapolis.

Location and hours:

This position is located at the Hennepin County Home School, 14300 County Road 62, Minnetonka, MN 55345. There is no public transportation to this location. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with occasional evening hours.

In this position, you will:

Develop individual treatment plans with input from the multidisciplinary treatment team including resident, parent/guardian, teachers, and assigned probation officers.

Perform group work with assigned residents and/or family in group or family sessions as indicated in treatment plan.

Participate and engage in overall program and intervention development.

Prepare residents for successful return to the community and ensure that support and resources are in place.

Confer, consult, and work with related personnel in community social services, mental health, education, and other service systems to activate resident treatment plans.

Facilitate resident groups; including but not limited to Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Facilitate and co-facilitate psychoeducational groups.

Need to be 21 years of age and have:

One of the following:

Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field with course work emphasis in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, and principles of social welfare.

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and 18 or more semester (27 quarter) credits of graduate work in the above areas, and three years or more of full-time supervised experience as a social worker.

Licensed as a Graduate Social Worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work.

A valid driver's license.

Designing and following through on intensive long or short-term treatment plans.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Juvenile Detention Center are required to undergo a Department of Human Services Background Study (MS 245C.13). Convictions for certain crimes will have an effect on your ability to be hired according to the disqualification schedule listed in Minnesota Statute 245C.15. Individuals convicted for any level of Criminal Sexual Conduct are disqualified from being hired into any position within the DOCCR under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). Other past involvement with the criminal court system will not automatically disqualify you from working at the DOCCR; individual circumstances are reviewed and evaluated confidentially.
