DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The North Carolina Department of Public Safety continuously recruits for Licensed Practical Nurses and will accept on-line applications, even if there is no current vacancy. Applications received will be screened for vacancies, as they occur, and will be retained on file for 180 days. Licensed Practical Nurses are a critical link to identify health care needs of the individual offender and promote treatment. Positions are located in facilities statewide. Adult Correction has a varied population in excess of 37,000 offenders with medical and mental health needs, requiring a range of care to include acute, chronic, and outpatient services.
Position provides routine licensed practical nursing work in the care and treatment of patients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Supervisor, within a state correctional facility. Responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients, within the scope of practice to include, but not limited to, the following duties: screening, observing and assessing patients, providing basic wound care and personal care to patients, delivering routine respiratory therapy and other treatments, catheter and colostomy care, collecting vital signs and specimens, preparing and administering medications, administering/interpreting TB skin tests, observing and recording pertinent patient information, responding to emergencies, and assisting the Registered Nurse and Physician, as required. Individuals may be required to work any shift, weekends, and holidays.

These KSAs, along with the minimum education and experience listed, are required in order to be deemed "eligible" for the position. Therefore, you must demonstrate through documented experience or provide supporting information within the body of your application to demonstrate your possession of ALL KSAs listed.
Must be licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in North Carolina or in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
If possess a single state LPN license from a state other than NC, must apply and receive at a minimum a "temporary license" to practice in NC prior to hire date.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
