PHOENIX, Ariz. — Lawsuits over prison conditions in Arizona jumped 29.2 percent last year, all due to one inmate.

The Washington Post reports that Dale Maisano has filed 6,076 complaints since 1991. He’s currently serving a 15-year sentence in Florence, Arizona, for aggravated assault.

He filed 3,613 in 2014 alone, mostly over poor food and health issues.

The Arizona Department of Corrections says it provides him with adequate food and medical care.

The DOC recently settled a case with the American Civil Liberties Union over abuses of solitary confinement for mentally ill prisoners and “extraction only” dental care policy.

Overall cases about prison conditions have decreased on a per-prisoner basis since a 1996 law limited court access for prisoners.
