It’s unclear what standards the company must meet within the contract, and whether it is still meeting those standards

RAYMONDVILLE — The private prison company that runs the Raymondville facility that rioted last week has not said whether it will change any policies after the incident.

The prison is run by the Management Training Corporation, under a contract worth more than $47 million a year, according to KRGV.

It’s unclear what standards the company must meet within the contract, and whether it is still meeting those standards.

The BOP reported that they keep three staff members on the site to monitor the company’s performance, but wouldn’t comment further.

The ACLU attempted to gain more information under the Freedom of Information Act but were told that the company’s past performance was not releasable under federal regulations.

BOP reported that they would take corrective actions as necessary, but did not provide details.

It’s unclear how long it would take to repair the damage at the prison and conduct an investigation into what happened.

MTC said it is just now beginning to determine the status of the 400 employees who work at the prison. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice will be launching a job fair in the town to help those who may soon be out of a job, according to the Valley Central.
