Calif. county sheriff’s office seeking cadets for corrections academy

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is seeking student cadets for its upcoming STC Corrections Officer Core Academy

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is seeking student cadets for its upcoming STC Corrections Officer Core Academy.

The Core Academy is scheduled to begin Dec. 1, and will run from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the Kern Regional Training Center at 962 Norris Road.

Applicants must be 18 years old and be able to pass an applicant selection process conducted by Sheriff’s Office that includes an entry test, physical agility and oral interview, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. Graduates from the course will be eligible to apply for lateral entry detentions deputy positions with the Sheriff’s Office and correctional officer positions with other law enforcement agencies in California.

Testing dates are scheduled for Sept. 22, 24 and 26.
