FRESNO, Calif. — An elaborate scheme to kill a Kings County corrections officer has been uncovered, with an inmate at its center.
ABC News reports that Angel Hernandez organized the attack from behind bars, which involved assaults on the staff member outside the jail.
A two-month long investigation also uncovered several weapons inside the jail that had been created especially for an assault on jail staff.
Hernandez is now charged with conspiracy to commit murder with gang enhancement and prior strikes. His bail is set at $1 million.
