WAUSAU, Wisc. — For the first time in more than 25 years, the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department employee roster will include dogs, as three K-9 officers join the squad.
Two of the dogs, both of them Belgian Malinois from the Vohn Liche Kennels in Indiana, began their first tours of duty Thursday. K-9 Leo, assigned to Deputy Troy Deiler, and K-9 Radar, assigned to Deputy Cory Gladden, were introduced to the community at a news conference led by Marathon County Sheriff Scott Parks.
A third dog, Csilbi — pronounced SILL-bee — will accompany Brandon Stroik, a former Columbia County sheriff’s deputy who will join the department Monday.
