SALISBURY, N.C. — Twelve-hour shifts as a corrections officer isn’t stopping one Rowan County man from pursuing his dreams.
On his downtime, Sgt. Kenn Phillips has been writing for nearly a decade. And now, he’s publishing a children’s book.
He spends his 12-hour shift supervising staff and monitoring inmates at the Piedmont Correctional Institution.
“A boring day is a good day,” Phillips said.
