CUMBERLAND — A new bill signed by Gov. Martin O’Malley earlier this week gives corrections officers certain rights during investigations and disciplinary proceedings.

According to the Times-News, the bill states that officers can’t be required to disclose family or financial information, and certain other information unless required by state or federal law or to investigate a certain conflict of interest.

The bill also requires that corrections officers who may be investigated must be informed of the person in charge of the investigation 24 hours in advance of an interrogation.
