ODESSA, Texas — The only surviving correctional officer involved in a Texas prison bus crash has been released from an Abilene rehabilitation center.
OA Online reports that CO Jason Self is now recovering at home.
He was one of three officers on the TDCJ transport bus when it ran over a guard rail, lost control, flew down an embankment and struck a moving train. The two other officers and eight inmates being transported were killed.
Self is currently suffering from a broken C2 vertebrae and a broken arm.
