BROWN COUNTY, Wis. — Brown County work-release inmates who volunteer outside of jail can now have their sentences reduced.
Those inmates will receive a day off their sentence for every 24 hours of community service, Brown County Sheriff John Gossage said Tuesday at a news conference at the Brown County Courthouse where he was surrounded by local judges and jail officials. The work would also go towards an inmate’s community service requirements.
“I want to give them that ability to give back to the community and pay their debt to society,” Gossage said. “There’s an incentive for them to stay in this program.”
