MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama has put a new contract with the Moss Group on hold, and did not give a reason why.
Al.com reports that the contract would have helped the DOC comply with PREA, sexual safety at Tutwiler and at other facilities in the state. Federal funds would have paid for the contract.
DOC spokeswoman Kristi Gates said the prison system has decided not to move forward with the contract at this time.
If the contract was going through, the state would have paid the company almost $1 million.
