MADISON COUNTY — Deputies with the Madison County Jail are being credited with saving the life of an inmate who attempted to hang themselves.
AL.com reports that the inmate attempted to hang himself during the weekend, but staff noticed the attempt and called for backup.
First aid was performed until medical help arrived.
“The inmate was alive and responsive due to the quick actions of Madison County detention staff and medical staff,” said Lt. Kevin Thompson of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. “A life was saved this weekend by the diligence, dedication and heroic actions of detention officers.”
No further information about the inmate or the deputies was released.
