BONITA, Fla. — A retired Florida corrections Lieutenant was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash after colliding into a vehicle and flashing his badge at the victim before driving off.
The victim, Melissa Mammarelli, contacted the sheriff’s office while traveling westbound on Bonita Beach Road. She told deputies that after stopping at a traffic light at Old 41 Road, she was struck from behind by another vehicle.
When Mammarelli got out of her car to look at the damages, the driver of the other car, Robert Henry Sharkey, said to the victim “Yeah, yeah pull over into the right lane.” According to the report, Mammarelli then made her way to the right lane and started turning into a parking lot west of Old 41 Road.
