Pa. woman attacks man in court

MOUNT POCONO, Pa. An Albrightsville woman, whose 12-year old daughter was allegedly raped by a Ridgewood, New York man, attacked the man as he sat handcuffed in district court yesterday in Mount Pocono.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police say 41-year-old Carmen Carrera struck 30-year-old Milton Saul-Rivera in the face several times following a preliminary hearing before District Judge Richard Claypool.

After Carrera was subdued and taken to a police car, she escaped, seeking to attack Saul-Rivera again. As police restrained her, she tried to take an officer’s gun.

Carrera was wrestled to the ground and taken into custody, and was charged with assault and trying to disarm a police officer.

Claypool determined there was enough evidence against Saul-Rivera to order him to stand trial in Monroe County Court on rape charges. He was arrested in June 2006.
