SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — An attorney stands accused of attempting to deliver a cell phone to an inmate inside the Seminole County Jail.

WESH reports that Marlon Smikle smuggled the iPhone 6 into the jail to give to Donald Mitchell during visitation on March 1.

A jailhouse tip prompted the search of Mitchell and his cell block on March 3. Mitchell eventually handed over the cell phone.

Mitchell also had an iFrogz electronic charging device, a Bluetooth ear device and an iPhone charging cord.

Mitchell now faces charges of smuggling contraband into a county detention facility and could be facing state prison time. He was originally due to be released May 5.

Smikle was arrested March 5 and charged with smuggling contraband into a county detention facility and conspiracy to introduce contraband into a county correctional facility. He withdrew as Mitchell’s attorney.

Both are set to be arraigned May 5.
