CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Two women will be joining inmates behind bars after deputies caught contraband worth upwards of $10,000 on their persons as they tried to get into a Tenn. state prison.
Maria Lynne Terrell and Vila Nounay face multiple charges after invesigators found bundles containing hacksaw blades, a knife, 10 cellphones and batteries, 50 grams of suspected crystal meth, cigarettes, tools and other items, according to The Telegraph.
Deputies also confiscated more than $4,100 in cash.
According to a Facebook post by the Telfair County Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched after noticing a vehicle with two people acting suspiciously on the east side of the facility. A search of the vehicle revealed the contraband, and both women were arrested. One was arrested while attempting to flee.
Sheriff Steverson credited the arrests and recovery of contraband to the quick response of personnel.
