RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — A Brazilian inmate on supervised release managed to sneak off to sell drugs after putting his electronic monitoring bracelet on a rooster.
According to Yahoo! News, Isaac Selau, 29, was caught after a routine check of a drug sales spot on Wednesday evening. When authorities ran his name, they discovered that he was under house arrest and required to remain at home in the evenings.
When they arrived at Selau’s home, they found the rooster with the monitoring device around its neck.
Police said it was the first time they’d found an electronic monitoring bracelet on an animal.
They seized cocaine, marijuana and a high-powered scale.
According to the head of the electronic surveillance unit for prisons in the southern state of Rio Grande de Sul, Cesar Moreira, the system had detected Selau had removed his bracelet on Monday and had flagged him as a fugitive.
