SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The leader of the California Correctional Peace Officers Association is retiring.
KCRA reports that the union voted Chuck Alexander to succeed Mike Jimenez as head of the 30,000-member union.
The union made headlines when it sparred with governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as they sought a new contract, picturing Schwarzenegger with devil’s horns and other unflattering ways. Jimenez once refused to cut his hair and beard until an agreement was reached.
Schwarzenegger eventually imposed a contract, replacing the lucrative one negotiated by former governor Gray Davis.
