CORRALITOS, Calif. — A Corralitos woman who was stabbed and nearly killed by two men in a 1991 home invasion robbery said she fears they will be released from prison. Her life has changed irreparably since her stepson attacked her and shot her husband, she said.
Sean Thomas Duran, who was 18 at the time of the attack, was convicted of attempted murder and other charges and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 1992. Denied parole in 2009, Duran, now 40, is expected to appear before a parole board on June 23 at Avenal State Prison.
Susan McBride Taylor, the woman who was stabbed, said Thursday that the attack haunts her. Now 65, she still suffers from post traumatic stress disorder, she said. She plans to continue writing letters to the California Board of Parole Hearings urging them not to release Duran and the other attacker, her stepson, Wade Frederick Taylor.
“What’s to stop them from harming not only me, but anyone?” she asked.
