Police seek secret witness ‘G.C.’ in CO’s killing

Reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to arrest and filing of a criminal complaint against suspect

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield police are seeking a secret witness with the code name “G.C.,” who filed a tip regarding the Aug. 22 killing of a correctional officer.

Police are asking the secret witness to contact Detective Jeff Watts at 326-3514, according to BPD. The officer, Carl Aaron Crawford, 60, was found dead at his home in the 2600 block of Hempstead Lane. Detectives said in court filings it appeared Crawford had been shot multiple times.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and filing of a criminal complaint against the suspect.
