DENVER — An inmate who physically resisted and spit on deputies during a confrontation at the Larimer County jail has been sentenced to nine years in prison.
The sheriff’s department announced Thursday that 33-year-old Michael David Jose was sentenced May 1. Investigators say he was told he was being moved to a different housing assignment on Sept. 27 when he refused to cooperate and spit on three corrections deputies.
The Denver Post reports Jose was charged with three counts of second-degree assault after the encounter. He was convicted of the charges during a two-day trial in March.
A spokeswoman for county prosecutors did not return a message seeking comment.
