COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man who escaped from the Trinidad Correctional Facility has been caught in Johnson, Kans., the Colorado Department of Corrections said in a news release Thursday.

Douglas Beagley, 62, got away around 3:20 p.m. while assigned to an outside work crew. He was driving a white Ford dump truck with Colorado Department of Corrections emblems on both sides, and was seen driving west on Highway 350 toward Trinidad.

Beagley was apprehended around 7:15 p.m. in Johnson.

He is serving an 18-year sentence for burglary and vandalism convictions in Mesa County, the Department of Corrections said.
