BALTIMORE —The Baltimore City Detention Center scandal has pushed the Maryland House and Senate to approve increasing penalties for smuggling contraband.
The separate bills were approved in each chamber, which means each bill will have to go to the opposite chamber for approval.
The bills would allow for immediate unpaid suspension of COs charged with contraband offenses such as those involving cellphones and drugs.
