LINCOLN, Neb. — An inmate who was allegedly intoxicated on homemade alcohol attacked three corrections officers Wednesday night.
The Omaha World-Herald reported that officers were removing multiple inmates from a housing unit when they noticed an intoxicated inmate.
When a CO attempted to handcuff the inmate, the officer was punched and fell to the ground. He sustained head bruises. The same inmate punched another officer who was restraining a different inmate. Officers used pepper spray and subdued the inmate.
The officer suffered head bruises, chipped a tooth and required five stitches, the publication reported. Both officers were treated at a local hospital and released. A caseworker suffered a thigh bite as well, but did not seek outside treatment.
An investigation is ongoing, but the incident did not require a facility lockdown.
