NJ prison nurse arrested twice in same day on drug charges

MONROE COUNTY, Pa. A nurse at the Edna Mahan Correction Facility for Women in Union Township, N.J., was arrested twice on Tuesday on drug charges, Lehigh Valley Live reports.

Dawn Terry-Dew, 47, was on her way to work dressed in her prison uniform and Pennsylvania State Police arrested her due to a warrant from a heroin buy at her apartment.

Terry-Dew was brought up on charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin, criminal use of a cellphone, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

As she was being processed and searched at Monroe County Jail, investigators discovered two bricks containing 97 packets of heroin in her purse.

Detective Kim Lippincott filed charges of possession on a controlled substance/contraband as an inmate, possession with intent to deliver heroin, and possession of a controlled substance.

A joint investigation between the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office and Edna Mahan has been launched.

Terry-Dew remained jailed as of Wednesday morning.
