ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A woman who was afraid of facing more charges smuggled a gun into the Bernalillo County Jail in her vagina while being booked on theft charges.
SF Gate reports that Josephine McAllister claimed to have a gun in her waistband when she was arrested and didn’t announce it to officers, but authorities believed she had it secreted in her privates.
The gun was later found in the trash by an inmate, who alerted jail officials.
“We can only be so thorough, and that area is out of the question,” Officer Simon Drobik said.
The jail will now be instituting extra wand checks in an effort to prevent future security breaches.
