Wash. corrections officer dies from COVID-19

Dan Oaks was a 15-year veteran of the Yakima County Department of Corrections

YAKIMA, Wash. — A Yakima County Department of Corrections officer died Saturday from COVID-19 complications.

YakimaHerald.com reported that CO Dan Oaks, a 15-year veteran of the department, died after being hospitalized.

“He will be missed by his family, co-workers and friends,” Ed Campbell, director of the Department of Corrections, said. “He was an exemplary officer and public servant.”

Oaks leaves behind his wife and two children. Campbell said a memorial fund will be established for his family.
