NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Family and friends are rallying around a corrections officer who was recently diagnosed with a large brain tumor.

Joseph Graf had arrived for work when he passed out as he got out of his car. When he regained consciousness he walked into the correctional facility with head and facial injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he began vomitting nad having severe cardiac complications, wrote friend Elaine McAleavey on a GoFundMe page she has set up for Graf.

Graf was diagnosed with a fairly large brain tumor.

“I am starting this fundraiser because Joe and Kelly will be facing some incredible medical expenses and their home expenses will become difficult as well, as Kelly is not able to work while she stays by Joe’s side,” McAleavey wrote.

As of Friday morning, the group had raised $12,915 of its $50,000 goal.

While doctors determined Graf’s tumor isn’t cancerous, they will be treating as if it is with radiation and chemotherapy to shrink it so it can be removed or left alone.
