KREMS AN DER DNAU, Austria — A whistleblower at the Krems Stein prison in lower Austria has recently revealed that prisoners are receiving prescription drugs intended for erectile dysfunction.
“We only carry out the arrangements of the medical management,” one employee explained to The Local. “Why long-term prisoners receive potency pills is a matter for the chief physician to know.”
An order was placed for 1000 doses of Cialis, which is an erectile dysfunction treatment.
The justice spokesman for the Austrian Freedom Party called for an investigation into and immediate halt of distribution of the pills. He says the “scandal [is] twice as bad” since the pills are paid for on the taxpayers’ dime.
Inmates in the prison are all male and rarely ever see any women. One exception was earlier this year, when a female corrections officer working at the prison fell pregnant after sleeping with an inmate.
