NEW ZEALAND — Dog handler John Sharpe and his German Shepard Aysa are one of two teams representing the Spring Hill Corrections Facility at the National Police Dog Championships in Trentham next week.

According to Voxy, the duo was selected after the recent DOC’s detection dog trials that put handlers and their dogs through all aspects of their work.

Sharpe and his dog will compete against the best Police and Customs dog teams in the narcotic detection section.

John and Aysa are based at Spring Hill Corrections Facility and also travel to Auckland Prison and Auckland Region Women’s Corrections Facility to support the detection dog teams at those prisons.
