PRETORIA, South Africa — The man once taped playing soccer with Oscar Pistorius is back in the news, this time for his own infamy.
The Daily Mail reports that Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir was planning a prison escape from the Kgosi Mampuru prison involving his mother, a private plane and a gun hidden inside a jail treadmill.
The plot was foiled when the 9mm handgun and ammunition were found inside his cell on Sept. 27, along with a correctional officer’s uniform and detailed plans of the facility.
This was Krejcir’s fourth attempt to spring himself, and the fourth time authorities spoiled his plans.
This particular plan included overpowering a bought off female officer during a visit to a doctor’s appointment. A car and helicopter were on standby to whisk him away over the border into Swaziland where he would relax at a luxury hotel.
At least three members of the prison staff were paid £25,000 each to assist in his escape.
Krejcir is currently incarcerated on a string of charges, including murder.
Between the bribes, the car, helicopter and jet, the total cost of the escape was £12 million.
