DALLAS — The House Appropriations Committee Chairman recently announced plans to provide a 10 percent pay increase for correctional and parole officers with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Your Houston News reports that TDCJ has recently faced high turnover rates due to low salaries and morale, and Chairman John Otto hopes that a pay raise will help turn the tide.
In 2014, the department had a total of 8,461 employees depart from the agency.
The legislature approved a five percent pay raise to help address the issue last session.
