LOUISVILLE, KY. — One thousand Kentucky inmates are expected to be released early due to an overhaul of the state corrections department.
The goal of the program is to help inmates find jobs and housing after they leave prison, so they would be less likely to break the law again.
Inmates convicted of major felonies, such as murder and kidnapping, are not eligible for the program. Instead, they are people convicted of robbery, burglary, and drug offenses.
