EMANUEL CO., Ga. — Two Emanuel County Women’s Facility correctional officers have been accused of having sex with female inmates.
WTOC reports that both Capt. Edgar Johnson and Sgt. Shauntsey Kitchens were arrested Wednesday.
Johnson is facing 11 counts of sexual assault on a person in custody, while Kitchens is facing two.
“It’s a professional embarrassment to all of us if these allegations are true,” Sheriff Tyson Stephens said.
If convicted and sentenced to jail, Stephens said he would incarcerate the officers elsewhere because he does not have a way to keep them separated from the rest of the population.
