BEATTYVILLE, Ky. — Two escapees are being sought after they escaped from a prison van that temporarily slowed during a return to jail.
WKYT reports that the two inmates are Dallas Trent and John Trent, who are cousins.
The inmates were being transported back to the Three Forks Regional Detention Center from a court appearance when another vehicle slowed down in front of the jail van. As the jail van also slowed, the two inmates jumped from the moving vehicle.
It’s believed one of the inmates was able to slip his handcuffs off and unlocked the van door.
A local said the nearby terrain isn’t easy to navigate and that the inmates likely wouldn’t get far unless they were familiar with the area.
Both inmates were indicted on charges of first-degree robbery. It’s unlikely that the two inmates are armed, but they are considered dangerous.
