CHARLOTTE — Two more women have been arrested for helping a convicted murderer following his escape last week from a state prison in Anson County.
The SBI on Wednesday arrested Shyla Daniel Ryder, 30, and Mazandra Yvette Spigner, 44, both from Winston-Salem. They are charged with harboring a fugitive, Kristopher McNeil. McNeil escaped by climbing a chain-link fence at Brown Creek Correctional Institution, about 45 miles southeast of Charlotte. He was captured and returned to the prison Sunday after being at large for two days.
McNeil is serving a 14-year sentence for second-degree murder. Signer is his cousin, while Ryder is an acquaintance, SBI Special Agent Tony Underwood said Friday.
A former prison food service officer, Kendra Lynette Miller, has also been charged in the case. She’s accused of having sex with an inmate, providing a phone to an inmate, harboring a fugitive and aiding and abetting a fugitive.
