Obama has promised to shutter Guantanamo Bay Prison during the last two years of his presidency

GUANTANAMO BAY — The Pentagon announced Tuesday that the military sent five more detainees from the prison at Guantanamo Bay to Kazakhstan.

Trib Live reports that three Yemenis and two Tusinians were transferred. The Yemenis included Asim Thabit Abdullah al-Khalaqi, Muhammad Ali Husayn Khanayna and Sabri Muhammad Ibrahim al-Qurashi.

Eighty-one Yemenis remain detained at Guantanamo, the largest single group among the 127 detainees there.

This year, the Obama administration has transferred 28 detainees after reaching agreements that included Afghanistan and Uruguay.
