IONIA, Mich. — A Michigan man has been charged with trying to hire a fellow jail inmate to kill his accusers in a sex case.

The Sentinel-Standard of Ionia reports 20-year-old William Kilburn of Pontiac, who is being held at the Ionia County Jail, was charged earlier this year with solicitation of murder. This week, a judge ruled him competent to stand trial in the sex case.

The Associated Press sent an email seeking comment Friday from Kilburn’s lawyer David Mierendorf.

Kilburn was arrested in November on charges including conspiracy to commit criminal sexual conduct and using a computer to commit a crime.

In January, authorities say Kilburn tried to get another inmate in the jail to find the girls, make them write letters retracting their accusations and then kill them.
