WAUPUN — The Waupun Fire Department was alerted Sunday morning by prison officials of a bomb threat Sunday morning at the state’s oldest prison.
Waupun Police Chief Dale Heeringa said the police and fire departments were alerted by the Department of Corrections of the bomb threat phoned into Waupun Correctional Institution. The caller said there was a bomb inside the prison set to go off at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 8.
“It was just informational at the time, and since we weren’t called in to do anything more, I am assuming there was nothing credible about the threat,” Heeringa said. “All prison complaints are typically investigated by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.”
