ALBANY — The bridge across the Taconic State Parkway on Hosner Mountain Road in the Town of East Fishkill will be designated the “Correction Officer Gary L. Mitchetti, Jr. Memorial Bridge.”
Mitchetti died on August 20, 2005 when his motorcycle collided with a car crossing the Taconic from Hosner Mountain Road.
Governor Cuomo, who signed legislation designating the bridge ion Mitchetti’s honor, said he was “a dedicated correctional officer who was awarded a New York State Correctional Services Medal of Merit and Valor, a Purple Heart from the New York Shields, and a Medal of Valor from the North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents.”
