COLUMBUS, Ohio — Corrections officials say one of the inmates who escaped from an Ohio prison with a convicted school shooter last week was injured along with a corrections officer while on the run.
An initial incident report by the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction says the officer who captured 19-year-old Lindsey Bruce received stitches for minor injuries. Tuesday’s report also says Bruce received unspecified medical treatment.
The state still hasn’t explained in detail how Bruce and another inmate escaped from the prison in Lima along with T.J. Lane, who was convicted of killing three students at Chardon High School in 2012.
Authorities said the trio escaped by scaling a fence in a recreation yard. The 19-year-old Lane had a pitchfork with him when he was recaptured a few hours later.
