DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio — A corrections officer and his wife were killed when they were struck by a passenger vehicle while riding on a motorcycle.
NBC News reports that CO John Schade, of the Marion Correctional Facility in Marion, and his wife Lisa were struck by Lyman Leathers, 85, when he lost control of his Toyota Prius and cross the median.
The Prius went airborne and crashed into the Schades’ motorcycle.
Scahde was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lisa Schade was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where she later died.
Lisa Schade was wearing a helmet, while John Schade was not.
Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, and investigators are still determining what caused Leathers to lose control of his vehicle.
