MOUNTAIN CITY, Tenn. — A counselor with the Northeast Correctional Complex was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment after being assaulted by an inmate, reports WJHL.
The counselor, whose name was not released, was involved with a “verbal exchange” with a medium-security inmate, according to the newspaper.
The extent of the counselor’s injuries was not provided.
The inmate, whose name has also not been made public, was separated from other prisoners, pending disciplinary action and prosecution for the assault. WJHL reports that the facility was not placed on lockdown.
