DOVER, Del. — Twenty-nine new corrections officers were added to the Department of Corrections after a graduation ceremony on Friday.

After nine weeks of training, graduates took an oath of office and received their assignments in front of family, friends, Lt. Governor Matt Denn and DOC officials, according to WBOC.

The Correctional Employee Initial Training (CEIT) consisted of hands-on and classroom sessions in topics such as weapons familiarization, defensive tactics, emergency preparedness, report writing, substance use disorder training, CPR/Basic First Aid, and inter-personal communication.

The Delaware Department of Corrections has over 2,600 employees supervising more than 7,000 adult offenders in facilities across the state.
